Gil SandersonGil Stevenson is immediate past Chair of the UK Strength & Conditioning Association, and currently is a director of the organisation.

He has over 30 years experience working within elite sport, managing and delivering coach education programmes. Formerly Principal of the Fife Institute of Physical and Recreational Education, Gil is now Director of his own company Sportspecifix Ltd. which focuses on high performance Strength and Conditioning coaching, and coach education. Gil has authored and co-authored several workshops on weightlifting for sport for a number of organisations including the UKSCA, UK Athletics and the Scottish Rugby Union.

In recent years, Gil has had the pleasure of providing strength and conditioning support for a number of athletes and players from a wide range of sports at various stages of their personal development, making substantial use of weightlifting movements as a medium for injury prevention and performance enhancement.

There is a potential world champion in every sport in every classroom in our country. The difficult trick is to optimise on that potential. Champions are born but also need to be nurtured.

Sportspecifix has developed as a coaching and coach education service principally concentrating on the physiological development of athletes.
